DGA Essais de missiles

The DGA Essais de missiles (also Center d'Essais des Landes ) is a missile test site of the French armed forces between the Atlantic coast and Biscarrosse .

Description and history

It is used to test military missiles. Civil sounding rockets are also launched from the test site . The test center was put into operation in 1967 as a replacement for the former launch site in Hammaguir . The main launch pad of the test center is the "Base Lancement Balistique" ( 44 ° 21 ′ 43 ″  N , 1 ° 15 ′ 0 ″  W ). Most medium-range missiles were launched from this launch pad.

Others

The test center could be visited every two years on the French national holiday .

On the northern edge of the restricted area, directly south of Biscarrosse Plage , is the barracks of the 17th groupe d'artillerie of the French land forces.
