Slabbesz (1999)

The Slabbesz (also spelled "Szlabbesz" or "Slabbèsz", pronounced "Schlabbes") is a radio play prize that is awarded annually at the Austrian Radio Play Days .

The International Radio Play Days at Villa Berging are an annual meeting of authors, directors and editors from Austria, Germany and Switzerland that has been held annually for around 40 years. Authors, directors, composers and dramaturges who present finished productions or projects that are still in progress are invited. The award was founded by Jan Rys at a radio play conference that has been held in the Central Burgenland municipality of Unterrabnitz since 1970 . After the initiator's death, the radio play days moved to Eisenstadt in 1988 and from 1989 to 2002 to the free city of Rust . Today the prize will be awarded at the radio play days of the Austrian Association of Dramatists, which have been held since 2004 in the Villa Berging in the district of the same name in the Lower Austrian community of Neulengbach . An indispensable prerequisite for the award of a Slabbesz is the unanimous strong applause of those present. The award is an honorary award, originally in the form of a winding core of tapes ( Bobby in English ), later in the form of a CD, and is listed in the annual ARD radio play books.
