Unterrabnitz-Schwendgraben ( Hungarian : Alsórámóc-Répcefő , Croatian : Dolnji Ramac ) is a municipality in the district of Oberpullendorf in Burgenland in Austria .

geography

Geographical location

The community is located on the Rabnitz at the foothills of the Bucklige Welt in Central Burgenland and is located at an altitude of 314 m in the valley floor to around 470 m above sea level. The municipality has an area of ​​13.93 km², of which 61.1% is forest, 33.5% agriculture, 3.3% construction and traffic area and 2.1% other areas.

history

Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg .

Later under the Romans, today's places Schwendgraben and Unterrabnitz were in the province of Pannonia .

Like the whole of Burgenland, the place belonged to Hungary until 1920/21 . The place has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 (see also the history of Burgenland ). In 1971 the large community of Piringsdorf-Unterrabnitz-Schwendgraben was formed, which was dissolved again in 1991.

In addition to Mayor Franz Haspel (ÖVP) and Deputy Mayor Martin Maschler (ÖVP), the executive councilor Daniela Sturm (SPÖ) is also a member of the community board.

Helmut Mandl was appointed mayor of Schwendgraben.

Mayor is Franz Haspel (ÖVP). After the resignation of Mayor Wilhelm Heißenberger (ÖVP) because of the manipulation of voting cards for the state elections on November 1, 2010, Vice Mayor Johann Steinriegler (SPÖ) initially took over the mayor's agendas. In the direct election of the extraordinary mayor on February 27, 2011, Haspel stood as a candidate for the ÖVP and was able to prevail against Johann Steinriegler as mayor with 59.9% to 40.1%. In the election on October 1, 2017, Haspel was confirmed in office with 69.03%. His competitor Thomas Schautz (SPÖ) got 30.97% of the vote. Schautz renounced his council seat.

Martin Maschler (ÖVP) was elected deputy mayor at the constituent meeting of the local council.

Harald Stampf is the head of the municipal office.
