geography

Geographical location

Neuthal (center left below) around 1880 (recording sheet of the state survey )

The community is located in the Stooberbachtal in Central Burgenland. Neutal is the only place in the municipality.

Incorporations

In 1931, despite the rejection of the Neutral Municipal Council, the town of Schwabenhof was incorporated.

history

Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg .

Later under the Romans, today's Neutal was then in the province of Pannonia .

Neutals was first mentioned in a document in 1270 as "Villa Geotan".

Towards the end of the 19th and 20th centuries, Neutal was a center for chimney and boiler masons . The special masons from Neutal and the surrounding area built chimneys and boilers throughout Austria, especially at the time of industrialization . Even after the Second World War , the bricklayers from the “furnace mason village” moved across Europe to line the steel furnaces and ring furnaces with refractory bricks .

Like all of Burgenland, the place belonged to Hungary (German-West Hungary) until 1920/21 . Since 1898 had due to the Magyarization of the government in Budapest of Hungarian name Sopronújlak be used.

After the end of the First World War, after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919. The place has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 ( see also: History of Burgenland ).

Central Burgenland technology center
Neutal advertises as a "healthy village"

The history of the Neutal industrial area began in 1975 with the establishment of the Pfnier & Co GmbH company .

In 1976 the Burgenland Training Center (BUZ), a center for the training and further education of skilled workers for the economy, settled in Neutal. In 1977 a branch of the Austrian Brown company, Boveri Werke (BBC), opened. In 1988, as part of the global merger of BBC and ASEA, the company was renamed Asea Brown Boveri  AG (ABB) and sold in 1998. Today the plant manufactures metal and switchgear under the new name SAM .

In 1979 the metal construction company MAT went into operation . At the beginning of 1999 the company was taken over and transformed into MA-TEC . The company is active worldwide in metal, steel and facade construction.

The direct connection to the Burgenland expressway (S31) and the infrastructure of the new technology area created the prerequisites for new business establishments from 1999. This included the roof and facade construction company Rathmanner, which started production in Neutal in mid-1999.

Another step in developing into an industrial location was the creation of the technology and development center for visual information systems - swarco Futurit . The world market leader in the production of signaling devices started operations in Neutal in January 2001.

After the company Divitec Elektro- und Altgeräteverwertung settled in 2001, the list of local metalworking companies was expanded to include the company MCI , which manufactures designer metal ceilings. The Kitzwögerer company has also been active in Neutal since 2001 . The marble and granite processing company took over the production halls of the company Acrylan , which manufactured windows and doors.

The construction of the Mittelburgenland technology center was economically important for the municipality of Neutal . The technology center, which opened in April 2002, houses numerous commercial and industrial companies as well as a high-performance computer center from Siemens Austria .

With the company LogicLine, another metal processing company started production of load securing systems in 2006 in Neutal.

In the tourism sector, Neutal, as a “healthy village”, specializes in soft tourism .

coat of arms

AUT Neutal COA.svg At its meeting on June 26, 1985, the Burgenland provincial government granted the municipality of Neutal the right to use a municipal coat of arms.

Blazon : “ A red chimney growing in a silver shield on a red wall, accompanied by a black wheel (front) and a green four-leaf clover (back).
Description: The location of the village in the fertile and easily accessible Stooberbachtal has always determined life in Neutal. The symbolism of the coat of arms refers to it. The wheel indicates agriculture and the traffic situation, while the clover leaf indicates the natural landscape. Dominating are the wall and the chimney in the middle of the coat of arms, which indicate that the reputation of the Neutaler as chimney builder and bricklayer went far beyond the national borders.
