Piringsdorf ( Hungarian : Répcebónya , Croatian : Piringštof ) is a municipality in the Oberpullendorf district in Burgenland in Austria .

geography

The community is located in Central Burgenland. Piringsdorf is the only place in the municipality.

history

Piringsdorf (center left) around 1880 (recording sheet of the state survey )

Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg . Later under the Romans, today's Piringsdorf was in the province of Pannonia .

Like all of Burgenland, the place belonged to Hungary (German-West Hungary) until 1920/21 . Since 1898 had due to the Magyarization of the government in Budapest of Hungarian name Répczebónya be used. After the end of the First World War, after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919. The place has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 (see also the history of Burgenland ). The only river in the village is the Rabnitz , which flows into the Raab near Győr in Hungary .

Due to the Municipal Structure Improvement Act, the previously independent municipalities of Piringsdorf, Schwendgraben and Unterrabnitz were merged into the municipality of Piringsdorf-Unterrabnitz on January 1, 1971. On July 10th and November 26th, 1990 the municipal council decided to divide the large municipality into the new municipalities of Piringsdorf and Unterrabnitz-Schwendgraben . By decree of the Burgenland provincial government of December 12, 1990, the dissolution of the large municipality was resolved on January 1, 1991.

coat of arms

AUT Piringsdorf COA.jpg On May 5, 1998, the Burgenland provincial government granted the municipality of Piringsdorf the right to use an official municipal coat of arms.

The focus is a specific feature of Piringsdorf, the golden yellow "Simperl", as a symbol for the traditional house industry, but also for the basket-making village. Three golden-yellow ears of corn sprout from the Simperl, as a symbol for the emerging community, for active businesses and active club life, but also as a symbol for the growth and origin of the Simperl. The waves and the color blue symbolize the abundance of mineral water.
The church colors were set to blue and gold.
