Ritzing ( Hungarian : Récény , Croatian : Ricinja ) is a municipality in Burgenland in the Oberpullendorf district in Austria with 907 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

geography

Ritzing is located in Central Burgenland on the southern edge of the Ödenburger Mountains and is, identical to the cadastral municipality of Ritzing, the only village in the municipality. Districts are Helenenschacht, Neustift and two individual layers. The Helenenschacht with the Sonnensee Ritzing is three kilometers away .

Incorporations

history

Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg .

Later under the Romans, today's Ritzing was then in the province of Pannonia .

Like all of Burgenland, the place belonged to Hungary (German-West Hungary) until 1920/21 . From 1898 had to because of the Magyarization of the government in Budapest of Hungarian name Récény be used.

After the end of the First World War , after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St-Germain and Trianon in 1919. The place has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 (see also the history of Burgenland ). During this time, the Helenenschacht district of Brennberg was also incorporated into Ritzing.

Parish council

In addition to Mayor Ernst Horvath (ÖVP) and Deputy Mayor Robert Trimmel (SPÖ), the executive councilors Andreas Guzmits (LFR), Johann Reissner (SPÖ) and Franz Sonnleithner (ÖVP) were elected to the community board.

Anton Hofer (ÖVP) was elected treasurer and Franz Sonnleithner (ÖVP) was elected environmental councilor.

Mayor is Ernst Horvath (ÖVP), who was sworn in on November 9, 2017 by the district captain of Oberpullendorf, Klaus Trummer.

After the numerous quarrels between Mayor Walter Roisz (ÖVP) and the Head of Department and Deputy Mayor Johann Reissner (SPÖ) - Mayor Roisz accused Reissner of refusing to work and suspended him from his work, on the other hand, Reissner showed Mayor Roisz more than 70 times at the supervisory authority both parties entered the 2017 local council election with new top candidates. Robert Trimmel (SPÖ) achieved 40.70%, Ernst Horvath (ÖVP) 35.17%, while Andreas Guzmits (LFR) left with 24.13%. In the runoff election on October 29, Horvath won with 53.90%. Trimmel, who came to 46.10%, was elected deputy mayor at the constituent meeting of the municipal council on November 17, 2017.
