history

The parish church Ritzing was first mentioned in 1663. The core of the building is medieval, the choir was built in the 15th century. In the years 1640 to 1667 the church was redesigned in Baroque style . A comprehensive restoration took place from 1972 to 1975.

Church building

In the west, the church tower is presented to the nave with a square floor plan with a stone spire from the 17th century. The Romanesque north side of the nave consists of ashlar masonry. The choir, which originated in the 15th century, has a five-eighth closing . The sacristy is connected to the choir to the north, and an annex to the nave to the south, both recent . On the south wall of the church there is an epitaph for Georg Tarnoczy († 1683) and his wife († 1684).

The three-bay nave with a groin vault dates from the 17th century. The three-axis gallery lies on a groin vault. The round triumphal arch is supported by brackets at a height of about three meters . The choir yoke also has a groin vault. The portal to the sacristy has a cantilever lintel . Above the chancel with a simply designed sacrament niche is a burr star vault .

Furnishing

The high altar, created around 1700, is a columnar altar with a semicircular niche and pierced ears on the sides . The altar is richly decorated with figures: in the middle a figure of Christ kneeling between Saints Anna and Joseph , outside Saint Urban and Saint Stephen . In the altarpiece stands the Holy Trinity between Saint Catherine and Saint Barbara .

The pulpit, the basket of which was removed, was built around 1700. On the wall there are figures of the four evangelists and of Jesus. The sound cover has a cranked cornice and a coat of arms cartouche. There are also sculptures of the four church fathers on the sound cover , above the Archangel Michael .

In a small niche in the choir is the small baroque figure of Maria Immaculata .
