The community consists of the cadastral communities Draßmarkt, Karl and Oberrabnitz .

history

Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg .

Later under the Romans, today's Draßmarkt was then in the province of Pannonia .

The first documentary mention was made in 1289 in the Güssing feud (as a fortified place "Traizzendorf"). In 1425 the place belonged to Landsee Castle and formed a branch station for collecting the toll. Over the years the place name changed to "Tracondorff" and in 1614 to "Drassendorf". That same year, the town of King was Matthias Corvinus the market right and the lower courts awarded. In 1784 the place was called Drosenmarkt until the name "Draßmarkt" was finally formed.

Like the rest of Burgenland, the place belonged to Hungary (German West Hungary) until 1921 . After the end of the First World War , after tough negotiations, German-West Hungary was awarded to Austria in the Treaties of St. Germain and Trianon in 1919. The place has belonged to the newly founded federal state of Burgenland since 1921 (see also the history of Burgenland ). In 1971 the places Karl and Oberrabnitz were incorporated into Draßmarkt. In 1971 the market rights were granted to the municipality.
