Patrik Fazekas

Patrik Fazekas (born March 12, 1990 in Oberpullendorf ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). He has been a member of the Burgenland State Parliament since 2015 .

Fazekas grew up as the son of a Burgenland Croat and a Polish woman in Neutal , where he still lives today. He attended elementary school in Neutal from 1996 to 2000 . From 2000 to 2004 he attended secondary school in Stoob . From 2004 he attended the commercial academy in Oberpullendorf , which he graduated with the Matura in 2009 . After completing his school education, Fazekas did his military service with the Burgenland Military Music . Fazekas then studied business consulting at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiener Neustadt.

Fazekas began his political career as a head boy at the Bundeshandelsakademie / BHAS Oberpullendorf. He was involved in the student union and the boys ÖVP , where he was elected to the Executive Board functions in 2008. In the local council election in October 2012 Fazekas was elected to the local council in his home parish Neutal . At the Landtag of the Young ÖVP Burgenland in 2013 he was elected as Chairman of the Young ÖVP Burgenland.

In the European elections in 2014 Fazekas was nominated as the top candidate of the ÖVP Burgenland . With his ninth place on the list he achieved 5980 preferential votes and thus the fourth-best preferential vote result within the ÖVP in Austria. At the Bundestag in Linz in January 2015, he also took over the post of Federal Deputy Chairman of the Young People's Party. At the state party conference of the ÖVP Burgenland in March 2015, Fazekas was elected with 100% as regional party chairman. In the state elections on May 31, 2015, he achieved the preferred vote mandate in his home district of Oberpullendorf with 3310 preferential votes. Fazekas was sworn in on July 9, 2015 as a member of the Burgenland state parliament .

After the state elections in 2020 , he succeeded Christoph Wolf as ÖVP state manager.
