Wolfgang Spitzmüller

Wolfgang Spitzmüller (born June 16, 1969 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician of the Greens and internet consultant. He has been a member of the Burgenland State Parliament since 2014 .

Spitzmüller came to politics and thus to the Greens through his wife, who made the first contacts.

In Oberschützen he has been back on the local council since 2012 after taking a break during a term of office. There he holds the function of the environmental council . Originally, he wanted to run for the Greens in Oberwart , where he has a secondary residence, in the 2012 municipal council elections. However, the municipal electoral authority, headed by Mayor Gerhard Pongracz , unanimously deprived the Green top candidate Spitzmüller the right to vote because he has neither a regular place of residence in the municipality and the focus of economic, professional, family or social living conditions is not given.

Spitzmüller has been spokesman for the Greens in the Oberwart district for many years . Since autumn 2013 he has been a board member of the Greens in Burgenland.

Since January 30, 2014 he has been a member of the Greens in the Burgenland state parliament. There he is active in the main committee and in the committee for European integration and cross-border cooperation as well as in the state control committee (there as deputy chairman). In his very first meeting he gave the first request to speak on the “Report on the economic and social situation of agriculture and forestry in Burgenland 2012”.

Spitzmüller is also campaigning for the maintenance of the Friedberg – Oberwart railway line . He emphasizes that it is "to the detriment of the economy" that there is no longer any freight traffic south of Oberwart. In 2014, around 76,000 tons of goods were transported on the route. He demands that the state of Burgenland and the federal government provide financial security for the Friedberg –Oberwart– Großpetersdorf railway .

In the national assembly of the Greens on 21 February 2015 in Oberschützen not Spitzmüller first for which was state elections in Burgenland in 2015 elected, but the country's speaker of the Greens Regina Petrik . Spitzmüller had to make do with second place. The Greens, who previously held a mandate in the state parliament, were able to win an additional mandate in the 2015 state elections in Burgenland.
