Georg Rosner (* 1962 ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). He's since 2012 mayor of Oberwart , since July 2015 Member of the Burgenland Landtag and since February 2020 Second President of Parliament .

Life

Georg Rosner passed the Matura after attending primary and secondary school and trained as a surveying technician .

In the course of the municipal council elections in Burgenland 2012 there was a mayor run- off election in Oberwart on November 4, 2012, which Georg Rosner won against the previous incumbent Gerhard Pongracz (SPÖ), Rosner has been mayor of Oberwart since then. On July 9, 2015 he was in the XXI. Legislative period as a member of the Burgenland state parliament, where he acts as the ÖVP area spokesman for health as well as transport and infrastructure and is a member of the finance, budget and budget committee, the social committee and the environment committee.

When the attack in Stockholm in 2017 on April 7, he was together with Niki Berlakovich , Marianne Hackl and Walter Temmel near the attack site.

In the 2017 municipal council elections in Burgenland , he was re-elected as mayor with 58.1 percent of the vote. In March 2018 he was elected Vice President of the Burgenland Association of Municipalities . In April 2018 he succeeded Michaela Resetar as ÖVP district party leader in the Oberwart district .

In the state elections in 2020 , he ran as the top candidate in state electoral district 5 . In February 2020 he was nominated by the ÖVP to succeed Rudolf Strommer for the office of Second President of the State Parliament . On February 17, 2020, he was elected second president of the state parliament with 11 out of 36 votes.
