Then the ÖVP local party executive elected him to the local party chairman.

In 2010 he achieved 2134 preferential votes in the 2010 state election as a candidate for the ÖVP in state electoral district 2 in fourth place on the list. Since he had obtained significantly more preferential votes than the third-place member of the Landtag, Franziska Huber (1580 preferential votes), Huber had to vacate Wolf after only two years as a member of the Landtag. In the mayor and municipal council elections on October 7, 2012, the ÖVP parish party chairman ran for the mayor's office for the first time and achieved an increase of 6.8% (41.6%). With the inauguration, Wolf was elected chairman of the state audit committee. In addition, he is the spokesperson for finance, clubs and sports. After a wave of advertisements against associations, he actively supported the Rettet die Vereinfeste initiative both inside and outside the People's Party and was thus one of the most important protagonists of more club-friendly laws across Austria in the interests of volunteers, but also innkeepers.

In the 2017 municipal council and mayoral election , Christoph Wolf ran for the second time as the top candidate for the ÖVP in Hornstein. He and his team reached the mayor and three seats on the local council. For the first time in Hornstein's history, the ÖVP has the majority and the mayor.
