Christof Wolf (* 1963 ) is a German sociologist . Since July 1, 2017 he has been President of GESIS - Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences in Mannheim and Cologne .

Wolf studied sociology , economics , economic and social history and statistics at the University of Hamburg . In 1996 he was at the University of Cologne Dr. rer. pole. obtained his doctorate and habilitation there in 2003 in the subject of sociology. From 2004 to 2015, Wolf was the scientific head of the "Continuous Monitoring of Society" department at GESIS . In 2009 he was appointed to the professorship for social structure analysis at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Mannheim . Wolf has been head of GESIS since 2015 and has also been secretary of the International Social Survey Program since 2015 . Since 2019 he has been the spokesman for Section B of the Leibniz Association .

Wolf's main research interests are data collection and analysis , international comparative structural analysis, religion in modern societies, and society and health . From 2011 onwards, Wolf has been the Principal Investigator of the German Election Study .
