Melanie Eckhardt
Melanie Eckhardt (born April 28, 1975 in Wiener Neustadt ) is an Austrian politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). She has been a member of the Burgenland State Parliament since February 17, 2020 .
Life
education and profession
Melanie Eckhardt attended the upper level at the BORG Wiener Neustadt from 1989 after completing the lower level at the Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Mattersburg . In 1991 she began an apprenticeship as a wholesale clerk, which she completed in 1994 with the final apprenticeship examination. She completed a trade management course at the FHWien der WKW that began in 2014 as a Master of Science (MSc). From 1995 she worked in the brush production that her grandfather founded in 1951. At the beginning of 2000 she took over the business from her parents and has been working as a brush manufacturer ever since . In January 2020 she was awarded by Frau in der Wirtschaft (FiW) in the category of special entrepreneurial performance .
politics
In 2015, Eckhardt became the district chairwoman of the Business Association in the Mattersburg district , since 2017 she has been a city councilor in Mattersburg and since 2018 Burgenland's state chairwoman for women in business . In the Burgenland Chamber of Commerce she is a member of the division conference of the trade division, in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce (WKO) she is a co-opted member of the federal committee for market, street and hiking trade. In October 2019 she was elected regional party chairman for the ÖVP Burgenland at the regional party conference .
In the early state elections in Burgenland 2020 , she ran behind top candidate and state party chairman Thomas Steiner in second place on the state list and fourth in the state electoral district 3 ( Mattersburg ). On February 17, 2020 it was in the constituent meeting of the XXII. Legislative period as a member of the Burgenland Landtag . In the state parliament she became the chairwoman of the economic committee, in the ÖVP state parliament club she acts as the area spokesperson for tourism, economy and family.
