Roland Fürst (politician, 1969)

Roland Fürst (born March 13, 1969 ) is an Austrian social scientist and politician ( SPÖ ). He has been the country manager of the SPÖ Burgenland since 2019 . On 17 February 2020, it was as a deputy for Burgenland parliament sworn in .

Life

Roland Fürst completed an apprenticeship as a fitter from 1985 to 1989. After passing the university entrance exam , he began studying social sciences at the Fachhochschule St. Pölten , where he earned his Master (FH). In 2008 he began studying political science with Karl Ucakar at the University of Vienna , where he obtained his doctorate in 2012 .

From 1994 to 2003 he worked as a social worker and probation officer at the Neustart association. In 2003/04 he was a journalist for the daily newspaper Kurier Burgenland, in 2004/05 he was press spokesman and deputy office manager for Social and Health Councilor Peter Rezar . From 2005 to 2014 he taught at the FH Campus Wien , where he was also the deputy head of the Master’s degree in Social Work. In 2014 he became head of the Social Department at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland , where he set up the Bachelor's degree in Social Work. In August 2019 he was on leave of absence from the FH Burgenland. His teaching and research focus includes methods, theories and history of social work, social space orientation and clinical social work, as well as the political framework for social work.

Fürst is married, has three children and lives with his family in Bad Sauerbrunn .

politics

Fürst was a member of the Socialist Youth Austria and from 1984 to 1989 FSG youth works council at Berndorfer Metallwaren AG . From 1990 to 1993 he was a member of the regional board of the Green Alternatives in Lower Austria , in 1993 he was press spokesman and candidate for the SPÖ Wiener Neustadt under Peter Wittmann . In the state elections in Burgenland in 2010 , he ran for the SPÖ in the Mattersburg district , from 2012 to 2017 he was SPÖ local party chairman in Bad Sauerbrunn .

In the 2017 National Council election , he ran for the SPÖ in seventh place on the list in the Burgenland regional constituency and third in the Burgenland North regional constituency . In June 2019 he was appointed by Hans Peter Doskozil as the second state manager of the SPÖ Burgenland alongside Christian Dax . After the state elections in 2020 , Fürst became the sole state managing director at the beginning of February 2020. On February 17, 2020, he was appointed at the constituent meeting of the XXII. Legislative period as a member of the Burgenland Landtag.
