Elisabeth Böhm (* 1969 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician from the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). She has been the mayor of Neusiedl am See since 2017 and a member of the Burgenland state parliament since October 2019 .

Life

After finishing elementary and secondary school in Neusiedl am See, Elisabeth Böhm attended the federal trade school in Frauenkirchen . Until 2017 she worked as an employee at the water pipeline association Northern Burgenland. She is married and has a daughter and a son.

From 2002 she was a member of the municipal council in Neusiedl am See, in 2007 she became a city councilor and 2012 deputy mayor. On October 29, 2017 she was elected as the successor of Kurt Lentsch (ÖVP) and thus the first woman in the history of the city in this office in the course of the municipal council election in a runoff election against Thomas Halbritter (ÖVP) . In addition, the mayor's chair of the city went to the SPÖ for the first time. On November 8, 2017, she was sworn in as mayor. She is the SPÖ chairwoman in Neusiedl am See, a member of the SPÖ district presidency and the district executive committee as well as the SPÖ state executive committee, as well as the deputy district chairwoman of the SPÖ women.

On October 17, 2019 she was in the XXI. Legislative period as a member of the Burgenland Landtag , where she belongs to the Finance, Budget and Budget Committee, the Legal Committee, the Social Committee and the Economic Committee. She replaced Christian Drobits , who was elected to the National Council. After Drobits sat on a preferential vote mandate, Doris Prohaska had to move up to the district mandate so that Bohm could take over the state mandate from Prohaska.
