Christian Drobits (born February 7, 1968 in Oberwart ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). From 2015 to October 2019 he was a member of the Burgenland State Parliament . He has been a member of the National Council since October 23, 2019 .

Life

After finishing elementary school in Rotenturm, Christian Drobits attended the Oberschützen secondary school, where he graduated in 1986 . He completed a degree in law at the University of Vienna in 1994 as a master's degree . Since 2003 he has been Regional Office Manager South at the Burgenland Chamber of Labor .

politics

In the 2013 National Council election Drobits was number two behind Norbert Darabos in the regional constituency of Burgenland South , and in the 2015 state election in Burgenland he was given a preferential vote . On July 9, 2015 he was in the XXI. Legislative period as a member of the Burgenland Landtag, where he acts SPÖ area spokesman for economy, consumer protection and social affairs and was a member of the State Audit Office Committee, the Finance, Budget and Budget Committee, the Legal Committee, the Social Committee and the Economic Committee.

Christian Drobits lives in Rotenturm an der Pinka , where he has been a local councilor since 2002. As a member of the SPÖ district board of the Oberwart district , he is chairman of the district education committee.

In the 2019 National Council election , he was the SPÖ's top candidate in Burgenland. On October 23, 2019, he was appointed in the constituent meeting of the XXVII. Legislative period as a member of the National Council . His parliamentary mandate went to Elisabeth Böhm . After Drobits sat on a preferential vote mandate, Doris Prohaska had to move up to the district mandate so that Bohm could take over the state mandate from Prohaska. In the SPÖ parliamentary club , he acts in the 27th legislative period as area spokesman for data protection, immunity and incompatibility. In May 2020 he succeeded Jörg Leichtfried as deputy chairman of the data protection council . In 2020 Drobits also became a team member in the football team of the Austrian parliament, the FC Nationalrat.
