August Neidhart
August Neidhart (born May 12, 1867 in Vienna , Austrian Empire , † November 25, 1934 in Berlin ) was an Austrian author and librettist .
Life
Neidhart was a writer of folk plays and operettas. He began his career in the theater as a prompter . One of his early works is Das Protektionskind , Schwank (by Alexander Engel and August Neidhart). In August 1916, Neidhart was hired by Gustav Charlé as a dramaturge and artistic advisor at the Komische Oper Berlin . He achieved worldwide success as a librettist with the operetta Schwarzwaldmädel , which was premiered the following year, set to music by Leon Jessel .
