The groundbreaking ceremony took place on July 2, 1960, Stefan László consecrated the foundation stone on August 14, 1960 and the church on October 1, 1961 as diocesan bishop of the Eisenstadt diocese . The solemn consecration took place on June 23, 1963, with the later governor of Burgenland Theodor Kery as guest of honor.

In 1994 Bishop Paul Iby raised the church to a parish church.
