Schwabenhof ( Hungarian Nemestelek ) was a municipality in the Oberpullendorf district in Burgenland in Austria , which was incorporated into the Neutal municipality in the 1930s .
geography
Schwabenhof is located in the Stooberbachtal in Central Burgenland, today in the northern part of the municipality of Neutal, embedded between a slope and the Stooberbach . The northern neighboring community of Schwabenhof was Markt Sankt Martin .
Place name
Older spellings of the place name are "Edelhof" ( German ) and "Kukerics" ( Hungarian ).
The place name "Schwabenhof" probably has no connection with the Swabians . The rear link “-hof” indicates the development of the area around a noble estate.
history
The place was founded as a German settlement in the 18th century and, until 1921, was part of the Kingdom of Hungary and shared the checkered history of Hungary. In 1846 it was described as “a German village with 14 houses and 104 inhabitants belonging to the aristocratic Nagy family, parish after St. Martin”. From 1921 Schwabenhof was part of the Burgenland and thus shares the recent history of Austria .
In 1931 Schwabenhof was incorporated into the municipality of Neutal, despite the rejection of the Neutal municipal council.
