Johann Payer

Johann Payer (born January 11, 1947 in Neutal ) is a former Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and principal school director. From 1990 to 1991 he was a member of the Burgenland Landtag and from 1991 to 2000 a member of the Federal Council .

Life

After primary school in Neutal, Payer attended the Stoob secondary school and then graduated from the teacher training college in Eisenstadt in 1961 , where he graduated in 1966. He then worked as a primary school teacher from 1966, passed the teaching examination for secondary schools and then from 1968 worked as a secondary school teacher in the subjects of German, English, history and handicrafts. He also spent time abroad in Great Britain and Canada. In 1984 Payer became principal school director in Oberpullendorf. He was awarded the professional title of senior student councilor.

Payer began his political career between 1972 and 1987 as a local councilor in Neutal. He was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from July 12, 1990 to July 18, 1991, and then became a member of the Federal Council on October 10, 1991. He was also the state party secretary of the SPÖ Burgenland between 1990 and 1996. Between July 1, 1996 and June 30, 1996, he assumed the office of President of the Federal Council for the first time, and between July 1, 2000 and December 27, 2000, he held this position again. He also acted as Vice President from January 1, 2000 to June 30, 2000. Payer resigned from the Federal Council on December 27, 2000.

In addition to his political mandates, Payer was active in the teachers' representation, where he was chairman of the service committee for compulsory school teachers from 1987 to 1990. He was also active as a member of the central committee for compulsory school teachers and from 1980 to 1990 as a member of the federal section for compulsory school teachers. In addition, Payer was involved as a member of the provincial executive committee of the Burgenland Public Service Union and as the OST district manager of the Austrian Red Cross.
