Wilhelm Heißenberger

Wilhelm Heißenberger (born February 17, 1955 in Unterrabnitz ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). Heißenberger was a member of the Burgenland State Parliament from 2004 to 2010 and mayor of the Unterrabnitz-Schwendgraben community until October 31, 2010 .

Life

Heißenberger attended secondary school after elementary school and subsequently learned to be a carpenter, taking the master craftsman and master craftsman examination as a carpenter. Heißenberger also passed the teaching examination at the Vocational Education Academy. Heißenberger was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from May 27, 2004, where he last represented the ÖVP in the Environment Committee (Vice Chairman), Legal Committee (2nd Secretary), State Control Committee and Petitions Committee. He was also the ÖVP area spokesman for the environment and energy and the district chairman of the municipal association. After the state elections in Burgenland in 2010 , Heißenberger left the state parliament on June 24, 2010. He is chairman of SC Unterrabnitz and member of the board of Biosolar Wärmeversorgungsgenossenschaft eGen.

Election fraud

After the public prosecutor's office for corruption had initiated investigations into electoral fraud , Heißenberger confessed in the course of an interrogation that he had personally filled out 13 voting cards in the course of the state elections in Burgenland in 2010 , and also forged signatures. It is believed that his votes fell on the Burgenland list . Heißenberger stated that he had voted invalid with a voting card.

After the electoral fraud became known, Heißenberger was trusted by the ÖVP municipal councils in Unterrabnitz. His party colleague Josef Sturm described the coverage of the electoral fraud as a “outrageous media campaign”. He himself initially announced that he would neither resign from his office as mayor nor put it on hold before he gave up his office on October 31, 2010. On June 30, 2011, he was sentenced to six months' conditional imprisonment and a fine in the first instance for abuse of office .
