The Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Lörrach is located in Lörrach ( Baden-Württemberg ) in the triangle of Germany, France and Switzerland. As a study academy, it belongs to the university network of the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) . At the DHBW Lörrach over 2100 students are currently studying in cooperation with over 750 local and national dual partners. The DHBW Lörrach is housed in two building complexes in the city: the campus in Hangstrasse and the former KBC building on Marie-Curie-Strasse.
Dual study at the DHBW
The DHBW is the first university in Germany that is organized according to the US State University model. Like the model from the USA, the DHBW has a central and a decentralized organizational structure. The Presidium of the DHBW in Stuttgart forms the common organizational roof under which the nine locations of the university with their local organizational structures are united. The central feature of the DHBW is its dual study concept with alternating theoretical and practical phases. The students complete the latter with their so-called dual partner, one of over 9,000 selected companies or institutions in Germany and abroad. There the students conclude a three-year employment contract with regular, ongoing training remuneration.
By alternating between theoretical and practical phases (usually every three months), students acquire practical know-how in addition to technical and methodological knowledge. Theoretical and practical content are closely coordinated and include current developments in business, technology and society in the curriculum. The services provided in the practical phases are an integral part of the course. All bachelor programs at DHBW are recognized as intensive programs and are awarded 210 ECTS points.

Master's degree programs
The Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University offers various professional-integrated, advanced master's courses in economics, technology and social affairs via the Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) based in Heilbronn. The Master of the DHBW CAS is aimed at Bachelor graduates * who would like to develop technical, leadership and management skills together with dual partners (companies or institutions). For the dual partners, the master’s degree is an offer of targeted personnel development. You benefit from the research projects and master's theses of your student employees. Depending on the course and field of study, the graduates receive the academic degree of Master of Arts (MA), Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) Or Master of Science (M.Sc.). Interested persons can contact the CAS branch office at DHBW Lörrach to find out more about the dual master’s degree and to receive advice.
Together with the Technical Faculty of the University of Freiburg, the DHBW Lörrach offers the part-time advanced training course "Intelligent Embedded Microsystems" (IEMS). At the interface between computer science and microsystems technology, the master’s online course is aimed at bachelor's and diploma graduates from universities, technical colleges and professional academies (dual universities) who have at least one year of professional experience.
International
Internationality is one of the strengths of DHBW Lörrach. Located in the border triangle with France and Switzerland, tri-national courses, an English-language course and a variety of options (e.g. semester abroad, internship, various short programs, collaborations, funding and educational programs) are offered to gain experience abroad during the course. The DHBW Lörrach maintains contacts with numerous universities abroad and offers its students the opportunity to complete part of their studies as part of a semester abroad at one of the partner universities. The semester for which students can apply is determined in the respective course.
DHBW Lörrach also supports students and dual partner companies with the integration of a practical phase abroad during their studies. Students can e.g. B. work in a foreign branch or at a partner company of the dual partner. In addition, students in Europe can independently organize internship positions via the Erasmus + web platform .
DHBW Lörrach cooperates with universities and colleges in Europe, Africa, America and the Caribbean as well as Asia and Oceania. A regularly updated list of all international partner universities can be found on the university's homepage.
A wide range of languages is also offered. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages is used as a basis for better international comparability of services . In terms of languages, the focus is on communicative and subject-specific content. Depending on student demand, language courses for (business) English, French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Chinese and Russian are organized. Foreign students have the opportunity to take German as a foreign language. The range of languages is regularly adapted and updated according to demand.
research
As a knowledge partner for business, government and society, the DHBW not only offers its dual partners high-quality education for students, but also wants to support companies in finding application and demand-oriented solutions to specific problems and thus increasing their ability to innovate. The special handling of knowledge, which is characteristic of the DHBW, offers an optimal basis for this: The DHBW works both with its own knowledge, i.e. with its own research results, and with external knowledge, i.e. the knowledge of the needs of the dual partners on the one hand and the State of (basic) research on the other hand, and brings them together.

The Dr. The KH Eberle Foundation offers an annual prize for projects at the DHBW Lörrach. At the request of the founder, the donated funds are strongly performance-oriented and awarded by way of a competition at the DHBW. They should support projects that are forward-looking, innovative, interdisciplinary and, if necessary, have a cross-border connection. Projects that focus on the connection between science, research and practical application are supported. There is no restriction to certain subject areas. In order to strengthen the profile of DHBW Lörrach, projects with cross-border and international partners as well as interdisciplinary projects are particularly worthy of funding.
Knowledge centers
At the DHBW Lörrach there are knowledge centers with different characteristics, which are characterized by the close thematic cooperation of different areas or on the basis of personal expertise.
