The DJK Heimerer Schools Basket Landsberg is a basketball club from Landsberg am Lech in Upper Bavaria.

history

The DJK was able to celebrate success in the male youth sector shortly after it was founded in the 1950s. Here the promotion to the then highest league succeeded.

In the 1970s, the club won the German junior championship. This team could be held together, so that the women's team played in 1977 in the second division. The men's team also rose to the 2nd division during this time.

However, both teams were not sufficiently supplied with offspring, so that these divisions could not be held. The men's team played in the lowest division in 1999. But they achieved almost direct promotion to the third division, the Regionalliga Süd-Ost, by the 2003/04 season. In this league, which is now only the fourth highest league due to restructuring, one still plays with ambitions for promotion to this day. Most recently, the former world champion (1974) Alexander Karchenkov was able to sign up a renowned coach. For the 2010/2011 season, the DJK withdrew from the Regionalliga Südost to the 2nd Regionalliga in order to be able to grant their own talents more playing time. The new coach is the former Bundesliga player in Bamberg Roman Gese.

The women's team now plays in the fourth highest league, the Oberliga Süd.

The youth teams play in the lower leagues today and were recently able to qualify for Bavarian championships.
