DJK St. Michael Marpingen

The DJK St. Michael Marpingen is a German sports club from Marpingen in Saarland . The abbreviation DJK stands for Deutsche Jugendkraft, see DJK-Sportverband .

He is known nationwide primarily for the women's handball team. This played from 1987 to 1990 in the 2nd handball Bundesliga . Although not relegated in terms of sport, the club withdrew for financial reasons.

For the 2007/08 season, the "Marpinger Mosquitos" rose again as runner-up in the Regionalliga Südwest in the 2nd Bundesliga South, as the champions SV Reichensachsen renounced. However, the team rose again in 2007/08 with just one plus point in the regional league. In 2010 you had to go to the league because you could not qualify for the newly founded 3rd division .
