Anne Vernon

Anne Vernon (* 7. January 1924 in Saint-Denis , Seine-Saint-Denis ) is a French actress .

She made her film debut in 1948 in the lead role of Warning to Wantons and became famous in 1951 with the title role of Caroline in Jacques Becker's Edouard and Caroline . A star in entertainment cinema in the 1950s, her role as Catherine Deneuve's mother Mme Emery in Jacques Demy's The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964) will be remembered. She had another subsequent success as the star of the crime novel Mord im Grandhotel (1968). In 1972 she retired from the film business.
