The German Psychotherapists Network ( DPNW ), based in Bonn, is an interest group that advocates the interests of psychologists , doctors and child and adolescent psychotherapists . The interest group has 1,400 members (as of April 2020) and 12,500 subscribers to its own Friday newsletter (as of February 2020).

history

The German Psychotherapist Network was founded as a professional association on May 2, 2019 in Bonn and officially accredited as a professional association by the German Bundestag in September 2019. The DPNW emerged from the psychotherapy network of colleagues, which started its work in June 2017. The forerunner of the network was an initiative for fair fees from 2016.

tasks

The aim of the association is to support psychotherapeutic practitioners in their daily work. This also includes informing members about important legal changes or scientific findings. At the same time, the idea of ​​networking should be promoted. The professional interests of the members are represented vis-à-vis all institutions that can influence or have a say in therapeutic work. The public image of the profession should be positively influenced in the long term.

The purpose of the statutes is achieved by creating networking measures, supporting psychotherapists and patients in allocating free therapy places, creating an appointment allocation system, an electronic appointment database for entering free appointments, regular information letters, information events and the implementation of scientific and advanced training events.

The association sees itself as humanistic, grassroots democracy and solidarity with other interest groups in the healthcare sector. He sees himself as a necessary addition to existing organizations and not as their competition.

The main fields of activity of the association are:

  • Questioning the electronic patient record with regard to the compatibility of confidentiality and data security
  • Criticism of the introduction of the telematics infrastructure (TI) in health care
  • Obtaining the authority to decide on the duration and necessity of psychotherapeutic treatments
  • Criticism of the appointment service via the appointment service point (TSS) of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV) - advocating the improvement of long waiting times for initial discussions
  • Criticism of the abolition of the expert opinion
  • Rejection of the amendment to the Psychotherapists Act, under which only psychiatrists are allowed to refer patients to psychotherapists - Abolition of the first access right of patients to psychotherapists.

According to the statutes, the association's organs are the general assembly and the board of directors. At the founding meeting on May 2, 2019, the following were elected as board members: 1st chairman Dieter Adler (Bonn), 2nd chairwoman Claudia Reimer (Frielendorf) and cashier Robert Warzecha (Bonn).

The highest body of the association is the general assembly. Their tasks include, in particular, the election and deselection of the board of directors, discharge of the board of directors, receipt of reports from the board of directors, election of the auditors, determination of contributions and their due dates, resolutions on changes to the statutes, resolutions on the dissolution of the association, decision on admission and exclusion of members in appointment cases as well as other tasks, as far as these result from the statutes or according to the law. The ordinary general assembly takes place once a year.
