The Torpedo L4 is the lightweight version of the DTCN L5 for use by aircraft and helicopters.
technical features
The weapon is the first French development to be built as part of a NATO program to standardize armaments according to Anglo-American dimensions .
After being released, the torpedo follows a circular search path until its search head picks up a target using active sonar . It can be used against submarines that travel up to 20 knots and up to 300 meters deep.
The Malafon guided weapon has this torpedo as its payload; this weapon system functions in a manner comparable to that of the US ASROC .
