The DT Swiss Group AG , based in Biel, is a Swiss manufacturer of bicycle components . The company is one of the so-called hidden champions .

history

The company was founded in 1994 by Marco Zingg, Frank Böckmann and Maurizio D'Alberto. As part of a management buy-out, they took over the spoke production from the then United Wire Works Biel . Over time, the DT Swiss Group AG expanded its production to include other bicycle components and later also other bicycle components. In 2003 DT Swiss was awarded the Espace Mittelland entrepreneurship prize. The company employs around 300 people and in 2008 generated sales of 92 million Swiss francs.

The headquarters in Biel, which was built in 2011, offers space for around 200 employees in the office, warehouse and production area. DT Swiss has had a sales and marketing team and its own production facility in the USA in Colorado since 1996. In 2005, another production facility was opened in Taiwan to get closer to the bicycle manufacturers in the Far East. A new production facility opened in Poland in 2007 as a competitive location with low wage costs within the EU .

Products

The company specializes in rustproof bicycle spokes , where it is one of the world market leaders . In addition, DT Swiss also produces a number of other components such as hubs , nipples , rims , clamping systems, dampers , suspension forks and complete wheel sets .
