They are the most successful representatives of hip-hop Tuga , the Portuguese hip-hop .

history

They started a project in mid-1993 that was rapping 100% in English and that was more experimental. At this point the group consisted of Pac , Armando , Jay Jay Neige and Yen Sung . Shortly thereafter, Da Weasel released the first EP: More Than 30 Motherf *** s (1994), with which they landed their first hit: God Bless Johnny is still one of their greatest audience successes at concerts. After less than a year, they released their first album: Dou-lhe com a Alma (1995) ( I give it to her with my soul ), which is also Portugal's first actual Hip Hop recording, because the band finally let it Portuguese prevail.

In 1999 they landed a mega hit with Outro Nivel from their album Iniciação a uma vida banal - O Manual .

In the following time, Pedro Quaresma as guitarist and Guilherme Silva as drummer joined the original formation . With them appeared 3 ° Capítulo (1997) ( 3rd chapter ), a harder record with aggressive language. At least now Pac asserted himself as one of the best and most witty lyricists in the current Portuguese music scene. The song Todagente ( Alleleute ) should be the new hit of the group. But before they start recording, there is one small change: Yen Sung leaves, Virgul comes. Re-Definicoes (2004; Re-Definições Edição especial: 2005), which reached four times platinum status, landed a huge success in Portugal with the single Re-Tratamento and even helped them to an appearance in Paris. They achieved this success with the help of their producer João Martins. On the Portuguese version of the hit album Loose (2006) by Nelly Furtado , they rap a verse in a remix of Furtado's hit Maneater . Dialectos de Ternura , whose catchy refrain, “Uhhh, uhhh - Yeah, yeah | Faz, faz, Bébé… “possibly an allusion to rolling a joint or an invitation to have sex (from the album Amor, Escárnio e Maldizer (April 2, 2007)) ran practically without interruption on Portuguese radio stations in early 2007.

On November 1, 2007, Da Weasel won an award in the Best Portuguese Act category at the 2007 MTV Europe Music Awards .

On December 9, 2010, Da Weasel announced their dissolution on their homepage.
