history

House built from roof over head

According to its own information, the organization has built over 1800 houses for people who lived on streets or in huts since it was founded until the end of 2019, and with an average of 6 people in one house, stable living can be guaranteed for around 10,000 people. In addition, Dach überm Kopf supports over 40 children in two orphanages and enables these girls, in addition to stable living, to receive a school education as a provision for the future, as well as to cover their daily basic needs and food. Furthermore, Dach überm Kopf operates four sewing and embroidery centers, a wafer bakery and a printing shop in which over 150 women find work and earn a living for their families.

activities

With a donation of 3,000 euros, the organization, according to its own information, can build a complete house for a family of up to 6 people without accommodation. However, people may only move into this accommodation if they and their relatives, etc. a. help with the construction of the house and take over a large part of the work.

Every year, Dach überm Kopf organizes a film presentation that shows the entire work of the organization in that year. In addition to project progress, the social life of the locals is also discussed. The focus of the annual film presentation is the journey from Varghese Thaniyath to India, during which the newly built houses are inaugurated.
