DachaBracha ( Ukrainian : ДахаБраха) is a music project from Kiev in Ukraine . The band plays world music with influences from the alternative rock and pop area, which they call ethno-chaos . The band's lyrics are sung in Russian, Ukrainian, Old Ukrainian and English.

history

The members of the DachaBracha group met in 2003 at the Kiev Theater Dach (Дах), a center for contemporary art founded in 1994 by Vladislav Troitsky. The band has appeared publicly since 2004, initially only in Eastern Europe, in 2007 for the first time in Germany, and later in other parts of Western Europe. 2013 followed appearances a. a. at the Haldern Pop Festival and a tour through Canada and the USA.

The name of the band is derived from the two Ukrainian words Давати and брати, which means give and take. Behind this is the concept of recording old Ukrainian and other folk music on site, processing it, combining it with other musical influences and giving it back to the local people.
