Dachau fair

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dachau Mass was composed in September 1944 by the church musician and composer Father Gregor Schwake as a prisoner in the Dachau concentration camp . The mass for male choir and brass (Missa antiphonaria, F major: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Agnus Dei) was secretly performed for the first time on September 24, 1944 in the concentration camp's " Priesthood Block ".

On October 18, 1997, the mass, believed to be lost (and rediscovered by Eleonore Philipp in 1995), was performed again on the occasion of a commemoration in honor of the priest and composer in Friedrichshafen - Ettenkirch .
