The association provides information about global connections and grievances and informs all social groups, citizens, politicians, business people and church people about their share in these grievances and urges change. The naming of blatant injustices is then the first step towards more justice. Therefore the association turns against hunger, war, arms exports , over-indebtedness, illiteracy, poverty, cultural dominance, environmental destruction, economic gagging and demands their overcoming. One strives for encounters from which international solidarity grows and participates in an exchange in which one learns to appreciate the other's culture. In addition, economic relationships that enable decent working and living conditions are supported. This includes social and ecological standards, access to food, health, education, adequately paid work and fair credit for low-income people. Fair trade is also supported. The preamble also says: As the umbrella organization for development cooperation in Baden-Württemberg, we represent the interests of people in Africa, Asia and Latin America. We trust that there are groups in all parts of the world who, with creativity and courage, find ways that will give them survival, self-determination and human dignity . Together we work for a fairer world.
Services
The umbrella organization sees the first task in supporting its members through information, advice, training and their representation in relation to politics and the public. In addition, DEAB is the point of contact for all questions, concerns and topics in the area of one world and development policy. This is what people in the office Stuttgart and offices in Mannheim and eels are available. The association arranges speakers, creates and disseminates publications, lends or arranges exhibitions. Another task is to network actors. So there are z. B. the round table "Voluntary Services" or the round table "Fair Trade Baden-Württemberg".
Association body
Südzeit - Eine Welt Journal is the association's magazine, it appears quarterly in March, June, September and December. Each issue of Südzeit is 36 pages long. Different focus topics provide an insight into development policy issues. The journal also contains current reports, features and interviews. Tips on the Internet, art and culture, events, non-commercial travel, health tips, films and suggestions for working in groups and school classes are also published. Recycled paper is used for the design and dispatch, the magazines are dispatched by the Neckartalwerkstätten, a workshop for disabled people of the Caritas Association, Stuttgart. More than 3500 individuals and institutions are regularly supplied with information by Südzeit.
