Lists on the subject |
The USAS-12 is a self-loading shotgun by the South Korean company Daewoo Precision Industries , developed in the 1980s and manufactured since the 1990s.
description
The USAS-12 is a gas pressure charger with which the burst of fire can be set manually (semi-automatic, automatic). It has a similar structure to the M16 and was specially developed for close combat. 10-round curve magazines or 20-round drum magazines, which are made from polymers, are used. The back of the drum magazines is made of a clear polymer so that you can quickly see how many cartridges are still available.
history
The USAS-12 is based on the Atchisson Assault Shotgun , which was developed by Maxwell Atchisson. It was further developed by John Trevor Jr. and should actually be produced in 1989 by Gilbert Equipment Co. (USA). Since this company did not have the capacity to do this, they had to look for another manufacturer. The only one who agreed to produce this weapon was Daewoo Precision Industries. Mass production of this weapon began in the early 1990s. Over 30,000 copies were sold, mainly to various Asian armed forces. At the same time Gilbert Equipment Co. wanted to establish a semi-automatic version on the US market, but the ATF found that the USAS-12 cannot be used for “sporting purposes” and therefore classified it as a weapon of war (“Class III destructive device "). American civilians are therefore not allowed to acquire the weapon.
