List of apple varieties |
Dalinbel is a cultivar of the cultivated apple ( malus domestica ). The apple comes from a breeding program with Vf scab resistance . It is marketed as a so-called club variety - that is, the rights are held by a tree nursery and other growers have to pay license fees. In some cases it is marketed under the brand name Antares .
Dalinbel emerged from a joint breeding program between the Davodeau-Ligonnière tree nursery and INRA Angers. Plant variety protection has existed since 2002.
description
The fruit is medium-sized and has a similar appearance to the mother variety Elstar . Their basic color is yellow. The orange-red to dark red covering color takes up between 60% and 90% of the apple, depending on the growing conditions. It is strongly colored. The stem area may be rusty . The tree itself grows compact.
In terms of taste, the fruits are crisp and juicy and have a balanced ratio of sugar and acidity. However, the apple does not keep its taste in cold storage, but rather breaks it down quickly.
Cultivation
Dalinbel has a tight harvest window about a week after Elstar. The yield is plentiful and the apple is not very susceptible to alternation .
Dalinbel is very susceptible to powdery mildew . It is mainly bred for organic cultivation, as its natural resistance means that it requires fewer pesticides.
