The Jason Island (also known as Dallmann Nunatak ) is an island off the east coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula , also called Nunatak described. It is located 8 km north of the Bruce Nunatak in the Seal Island group .
It was mapped in 1902 by participants in the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901–1903). Otto Nordenskjöld , leader of the expedition, named it Dallmann-Nunatak after the German Antarctic explorer Eduard Dallmann (1830-1896). The namesake of the original name Jasoninsel (preferred name in German-speaking countries) is the ship Jason of the Norwegian whaler and Antarctic researcher Carl Anton Larsen , who discovered the Seal Islands.
