Dalton is an impact crater on the northwestern edge of the lunar front . It lies south of the neighboring Balboa crater on the western edge of the Oceanus Procellarum . The crater wall is terraced. The interior has a central mountain and fracture structures.
The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1964 after the British chemist John Dalton .
