Sjællandske Jernbaneselskab steam locomotives

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The table shows the steam locomotives used by the Sjællandske Jernbaneselskab and the 1880 De Sjællandske Statsbaner mentioned company in Denmark were procured. The company name was changed after the Danish government had finally decided that the company should remain in state hands. The expansion of the rail network was continued under the state company. This and the Jysk-Fyenske Jernbaner remained under state control with their own organizations until the final merger of the mechanical engineering departments into Danske Statsbaner in 1892.

Explanations

Almost all of the company's locomotives were given names when they were purchased between 1847 and 1885 and were initially treated as individual pieces. Classes were first introduced in 1871, although in the early days they were named after the name of the first locomotive of the type and the locomotives were simply numbered consecutively.

After 1871, the Roeskilde , Thor , Skirner and HC Ørsted series of Crampton locomotives built for the Roskilde – Korsør line were redesignated several times due to new series for which new serial letters were required .

The respective numbers are assigned in the order of the original locomotive names.
