Dan Neville

Dan Neville (born December 8, 1946 in County Limerick ) is an Irish politician, member of the Fine Gael and since 1997 member of the Dáil Éireann .

Neville's political career began in Limerick County Council , of which he was a member from 1985 to October 2003. He was also a member of the Mid-Western Health Board , the General Council of County Councils and the Association of Health Boards in Ireland from 1992 to 1999 .

In 1989 Neville was elected to the 19th Seanad Éireann and was able to keep his seat in the 20th Seanad Éireann. In 1997 he succeeded after two failed attempts (1987 and 1992) to be elected to the Dáil Éireann. In the following elections Neville was able to defend his seat.

Neville is president of the Irish Association of Suicidology , an organization affiliated with the International Association for Suicide Prevention , and director of the Irish Palatine Association .

When Neville resigned in October 2003 and resigned from Limerick County Council , the vacant seat was filled by his son Tom Neville, who is also a Fine Gael member.
