Lists on the subject |
The Dan Wesson Model 44 revolver was developed and built by the weapons manufacturer Dan Wesson Firearms . This powerful, six-shot, double-action revolver was manufactured with the so-called "Large Frame" for ammunition of caliber .44 Magnum .
history
The Dan Wesson Model 44 revolver was developed by Karl R. Lewis for Dan Wesson Firearms. Numerous patents are used in this model. The revolvers were manufactured in Monson (USA) and Palmer (USA) from 1975 until around 1989. In 1997 revolver production was resumed. For models in caliber .44 Magnum, the name of the successor model was "Model 44/744".
technology
The special features of the technology of this model are interchangeable barrels that are braced in the barrel jacket to improve shooting performance. Furthermore, the drum bearing is resiliently mounted in the direction of the bumper, which, when charges are fired with excess pressure, leads to the drum gap expanding and excess gases being discharged. To reduce production costs, the transition from the frame to the handle was designed as a sleeve that is completely covered by the handle.
use
Depending on the equipment, this revolver is used for sport shooting or in hunting as a handgun .
variants
The "Model 44" was available with 4 "and 6" barrel lengths. The following model variants of the Dan Wesson revolver "Model 44" were built:
- Models with a 7 at the beginning of the model name are "stainless" (shiny metal) models
- Models with the designation Service have fixed sights
- Models with the designation Target have adjustable sights
The following "Model 44/744" was available with barrel lengths between 2 and 10 inches.
