The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a world-renowned cancer research and treatment center in the United States. It belongs to the Harvard Medical School in Boston .

In 1947, the Children's Cancer Research Foundation was founded by Sidney Farber , MD. In 1974 it was named the Sidney Farber Cancer Institute in honor of its founder . Due to the support of the Charles A. Dana Foundation , the name of the institute was amended accordingly in 1983.

The president is (as of 2016) Laurie H. Glimcher .
