Lyrics

In an interview, Nik Kershaw said the following:

"Dancing Girls" is about a bloke a bit down on his luck. He's got a job and everything but he's bored sick with the routine of getting up, going to work, coming home, watching the telly, going to bed… in the end he's saying, “For God's sake, bring on the dancing girls! Let something exciting happen to me for a change. "But again the idea was exaggerated.

“Dancing Girls” is about a guy whose luck seems a little lost. He's got a job and everything, but he's annoyed with the routine of getting up, going to work, going home, watching TV, and going to bed ... In the end he says, “For God's sake, bring the dancing girls in! Let something exciting happen so that something changes for me. "But again the idea was exaggerated."

Music video

In the music video, you see Kershaw as a normal suburban worker. However, he is fed up with the routine, which is why the (somewhat older) women dance in his head. Despite an examination by the doctor, the delusions and depression do not go away. He sees all women dancing everywhere. A ballerina keeps appearing throughout the video.

“Bring on the dancing girls. Take off the cold night and the sad day. Bring on the dancing girls. Take off the twilight and the sky so gray. And they dance for him inside his head. "

“Let the dancing girls appear. Forget the cold night and the sad day. Make the dancing girls appear. Forget the twilight and the gray sky. And they dance for him in his head. "

The outdoor portion of the video was filmed at Woodberry Grove in Finchley, North London.
