Daniel Ellensohn (born August 9, 1985 in Cape Town , South Africa ) is a New Zealand soccer player .

The South African-born striker played in the New Zealand Football Championship from 2004 to 2008 , initially for three seasons at Waitakere United , with whom he reached the Grand Final twice in 2005 and 2007, both of which were lost to Auckland City . In 2007 he moved to Team Wellington and again reached the Grand Final in 2008, this time against his former club Waitakere. Despite his goal to lead 1-0, his team lost the game 2: 3. For the 2008/09 season Ellensohn returned to Waitakere and took part with the team in the FIFA Club World Cup in 2008 (but was not used in the 2-1 defeat by Adelaide United). On January 1, 2009 he signed a contract with the Austrian second division club FC Lustenau and returned to his grandparents' country. Half a year later he had to leave Lustenau again after failing to assert himself there.

Ellensohn was used in November 2007 against Vanuatu for the first time in the New Zealand senior team . He was also in the New Zealand squad for the Olympic soccer tournament in China in 2008. Ellensohn took part as captain of the 2007 OFC Beach Soccer Championship with the New Zealand beach soccer team .
