Daniel Lieneke (born June 5, 1981 ) is a former German basketball player . The 2-meter-tall winger played 57 games in the basketball league for the Paderborn Baskets .

career

Lieneke made his second division debut for his hometown club TV Salzkotten at the age of 17 , having only started playing basketball two years earlier in the club's youth department. Before the 2000/01 season, Salzkotten withdrew from the second division. In 2002 he moved to the Paderborn Baskets (2nd Bundesliga) after he had already received his first appearances in Paderborn dress in the 2001/02 season in addition to his playing in Salzkotten.

In 2005/06 he was with Paderborn undefeated champions of the 2nd Bundesliga North and rose with the team in the basketball Bundesliga . Unlike in the second division, where Lieneke was a top performer, he got relatively little work in the BBL. In the 2006/07 season he had an average playing time of 5:44 minutes per game in 26 Bundesliga games and statistically scored one point per game.

Between 2007 and 2009 he was active again for TV Salzkotten in the first regional league, after a strong 2008/09 season, in which he was named the best German player in the 1st Regionalliga West by the internet portal eurobasket.com , he returned to Paderborn's Bundesliga- Squad back. In the 2009/10 season Lieneke played 31 Bundesliga games and averaged 3.2 points. Paderborn landed last this season and was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga ProA . In the ProA, the winger was part of Paderborn's squad for two more years before moving to Salzkotten again in 2012. In the 2012/13 season he was once again recognized by eurobasket.com as the best German player in the 1st Regionalliga West. Following the 2015/16 season, he ended his competitive sports career.

In addition to his basketball career, Lieneke completed a teaching degree in mathematics and sports. In summer 2019 he became assistant coach of the regional league team at TV Salzkotten.
