Daniele Portanova (born December 17, 1978 in Rome ) is an Italian football player .
Career
Daniele Portanova began his career in the youth of the US Fermana . In the 1997/98 season he made his debut at Fermana in the C1 series . In the following season it was bought by the then Serie B club CFC Genoa . In the Genoese he received six league appearances. He was then awarded to AS Cosenza Calcio and shortly afterwards, after he had not played a single game at Cosenza, to the US Avellino . Even with Avellino he could not impose himself and returned to Genoa in 2000.
Shortly afterwards he was bought by the Sicilian club FC Messina where he was able to secure a regular place in his first season and made it to Serie B. After three years with the Sicilians, he transferred to the traditional Campanian club SSC Napoli in the summer of 2003 . He also made it a regular in Naples. However, due to the bankruptcy of the Neapolitans, he left the club after one season and signed with the first division club AC Siena .
In Siena he rose to become a regular in the central defense of the Tuscans. In the five years at the club Portanova fought with the team against relegation, but managed to stay in Serie A year after year. In the summer of 2009, his transfer to league rivals FC Bologna was announced, where he was able to establish himself again as a regular.
