Danilo Astori
Danilo Ángel Astori Saragosa (born April 23, 1940 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan politician .
He is a member of the Frente Amplio and has been the elected Vice President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay since March 1, 2010 , and President of the Asamblea Nacional . In the primaries, the so-called Elecciones internas de Uruguay de 2009 , he was initially a presidential candidate, but was defeated by José Mujica . Together with Mujica he then won the runoff election on November 29, 2009 against Luis Alberto Lacalle and Jorge Larrañaga .
From March 1, 2005 to September 18, 2008, he was also the state's Minister of Economic Affairs.
