history

The area of the former Hofgut Goldstein was developed in the 1930s as a settlement for around 4,000 residents. The Goldstein settlement initially belonged to the Martinus parish in Schwanheim before an independent parish was founded in 1947. The new church was built by the church building administration according to plans by senior building officer Ernst Görke and inaugurated on September 19, 1954.

architecture

The Dankeskirche is located in the center of the settlement north of the Goldsteinpark green area, not far from various other public facilities, such as a community center. It is located around a churchyard together with a daycare center built in 2014 and the community rooms. The size of the church takes up the dimensions of the existing mostly two-story settlement houses . The architecture, with a gable roof and light plaster facade, is also based on the existing buildings. Only the bell tower made of gray-green natural stone emphasizes the building's function. The main facade facing the churchyard to the east is structured by two round windows and five square windows. The reveals that emphasize the entrance are also made of natural stone. Inside, two bench blocks with a central aisle face the brightly lit chancel with a large cross.

The Dankeskirche has three bells that were manufactured in 1954 by the Rincker bell foundry .
