Daraj ( Arabic درج, DMG Daraǧ , also as Daraj , Dirij , Durej or Derj ) is an oasis town in western Libya with around 6000 inhabitants. It is located about 500 km southwest of Tripoli in the municipality of Nalut . The nearest towns are Ghadames about 100 km to the west and Sinawin (about 3000 inhabitants) in the north halfway to Nalut . In the east a road leads into the municipality of al-Jabal al-Gharbi . The old town is surrounded by a wall with a gate each to the west, north and east. An annual tourism fair has been held in Daraj since 1985.
