Darband (Tehran)

Darband ( Persian دربند) is a district in the north of Tehran .

The former village is located at an altitude of 1700 m near the palace of Sa'dabad and forms the starting point of a popular climbing and hiking trail that leads to Tochal . On the way there is a torrent and a number of well-frequented cafes, restaurants and teahouses ( Tschā'ī-khāneh or Ghahveh-khāneh-ye Sonnati ). A 12 km long gondola lift is also available.

In Zahir o Dowleh graveyard of the district famous Iranian artists such as lying Iraj Mirza , Mohammad Taghi Bahār , Forugh Farrochzād , Abolhassan Saba, Ruhollah Khaleghi, Rahi Moayeri and Darvish-Khān.

The climate is pleasant at this altitude, but with heavy snowfalls in winter.
